Subject: Urban folklore, or how it used to be
Presented by: Mateusz Grzębski
Art in the High Noon -A series of meetings devoted to art and culture in a broad sense, addressed to people aged 60+.
For February’s workshop, we invite seniors for a meeting with traditional urban culture in its broadest sense. The aim of the meeting is to explore, document and promote the city’s unique cultural heritage. The target is to create a workshop group that will work on their creative elaboration and contemporary presentation by analysing urban traditions such as songs, customs, humour or stage forms. Activities include forms of theatre, literature and music education. Urban folklore is still a vibrant and rapidly developing part of cultural heritage that remains an important part of the identity of contemporary urban communities. The workshops aim to restore the memory of the cities’ culture, enrich the cultural offer and strengthen social bonds through artistic activities.
Mateusz Grzębski – cultural and educational instructor, cultural expert, dealing with urban folklore in both its historical and contemporary dimensions.
