The car is one of the most important defining factors of the 20th century landscape. New roads have cut through historic centres, surrounded cities with rings and led people out to uncontrollable suburbs. New types of buildings have sprung up along the asphalt networks: service stations, multi-storey garages, motels or shopping centres. In the rear-view mirror we will see crazy urban visions, pioneering architecture, and daring car designs by architects…
Łukasz Wojciechowski – architect, assistant professor at the Faculty of Architecture of Wrocław University of Technology, co-founder of VROA Architekci studio, co-author of the Congress Centre at the Centennial Hall in Wrocław and the Wrocław Contemporary Museum. He has published in Architektura-Murator, Autoportret, and formerly in A10 New European Architecture and other journals. Author of books e.g. Architektura racjonalnej Europy (Architecture of a Rational Europe, published by EMG 2019), We wstecznym lusterku (In the Rearview Mirror, published by Unpubleashed 2014). Curator of exhibitions at the Museum of Architecture in Wrocław: Architektura spalinowa, Jan Szpakowicz – przestrzeń elementarna and Noc w Mediolanie. He writes and draws comics, most recently published: Ville nouvelle (published by Éditions çà et là, 2020) and Soleil mécanique (published by Éditions çà et là, 2021).
