On January 26th, 2012 (Thursday), at 6pm, there was a panel discussion with artists and curators of the “New Tendencies in Polish Painting 2” exhibition.
The “Painting new or not new” panel discussion is a meeting where curators and artists of the “New Tendencies in Polish Painting 2” exhibition and everyone interested in contemporary art can discuss topics related to painting.
Among others, the discussion touched upon the following topics:
Is there, and if so, what it is, the impact of Polish cultural area on the shaping of artistic attitudes of Polish artists? And whether or not Polish painting affects the cultural changes in Poland?
Is Polish painting under the influence of external cultures?
Is it possible to determine new values and phenomena in Polish painting?
What is the significance of Polish painting and its influence on the art world, the global culture?
The concepts of painting and painterly character to what extent are these convergent concepts, and to what extent are they confused in their meaning in the context of video art?
How to place painting in the context of other forms of artistic expression in visual arts?
To what extent are the creators presented at the “New Tendencies in Polish Painting 2” exhibition artists introducing new values in painting?
