“Wieczór – realizacja filmu animowanego” (Evening – Making of an Animated Movie) is an art and production residence aiming at bringing to life a painting. Professor, PhD, Marcin Giżycki will cooperate with a Bydgoszcz art group “Czarny Karzeł” and a group of volunteers and actors. The result of the cooperation will be the production of an animated film in Bydgoszcz. “The Evening” will be a film inspired by an oil painting under the same title by a pioneer of Polish animated film, Zenon Wasilewski (1903–1966). Wasilewski considered himself a surrealist, he painted surrealistic paintings, but he never made a film that would fully reflect his artistic interests. Ideological, technical and script preparations for this project have been going on for several years.
