We invite you to an event that is part of the “Influenced by art” project, which is part of the BWA Europa Festival.
Τhe lecture is going to focus on what psychotherapy is and why can it be practiced in a museum and/or gallery. We are going to focus on the group art psychotherapy program “Exploring the Museum’s Images – Exploring my Image” which is held at EMΣT | The National Museum of Contemporary Art, Athens since 2017.
Afterwards, a short presentation of the “Art on Prescription” program that is currently realized in Greece will follow. In September 2021 the Hellenic Ministry of Culture and the Ministry of Health signed a Memorandum of Cooperation for the design and implementation of an innovative “Art on Prescription” program. With it, initiatives are adopted that include the arts and culture in preventive and therapeutic treatment to promote the mental health and well-being of citizens, recognizing the beneficial role of contemporary artistic creation in the health and well-being of individuals.
The lecture will close with the presentation of the pioneering art-based research workshop in art psychotherapy realized from October 2021 until June 2024 that was addressed to professional art psychotherapists.
