Art at High Noon! Workshops for seniors
Subject: The art of gesture, i.e. the encounter with body language
Presented by: Ewa Lewandowska
A series of meetings devoted to art and culture in a broad sense, addressed to people aged 60+. The meetings offer discussions on contemporary art, and creative activities that develop cognitive processes, improving manual dexterity by learning different art techniques and forms of art.
What does it mean when one embraces themselves? Why do politicians during their appearances on television put their hands into the so-called pyramid? Is it possible to know that someone is lying by watching their face? Gestures, looks and the way one speaks can tell you a lot about the other person. However, body language needs to be decoded based on the cultural context, as some behaviours may have different meanings in different countries. During the workshop we will explain the basic meaning of gestures. The participants will be trying to recognise the behaviours of people known from the media and try to define them in themselves. They will learn the basics of body language. All presented in a light, entertaining form.
