We are not always aware that porcelain sets, comfortable furniture with stick legs, or printed fabrics which we remember from our grandmothers’ homes and often see in garbage cans, have a significant artistic and collector’s value. The author of a guide for beginner collectors “Start loving design” (Marginesy publishing house) will tell you how to recognize the most valuable ones among them and where to look for reliable information about them.
Ms. Bochińska will share her knowledge of the history of design, especially the history of the Polish People’s Republic and the Cold War, outlining a brief description of the trends and distinctive styles of the time. She will also describe how to start building own collection and how to avoid the most common mistakes of beginner collectors. She will be happy to answer the questions of the participants.
The lecture will be illustrated with a presentation of the most interesting and characteristic objects designed by the most famous Polish designers, and manufactured in Polish factories during the communist era, from the collection of the presenter.
