The word “icon” comes from the Greek eikón, i.e. image. However, it’s not an ordinary image. Quenot Michel called icon “a window towards eternity.” During the workshop, we’ll present the basic technical issues of writing icons, as well as their symbolism and spiritual significance.
Danuta Pałys – graduate of history of art (Catholic University of Lublin) and theology (Adam Mickiewicz University), curator at the Municipal Gallery bwa in Bydgoszcz, participant in iconographic workshops organised, among others, by the Droga Ikony in Warsaw and Orthodox Church in Krakow.
Art in the High Noon is a series of meetings devoted to art and culture in a broad sense, addressed to people aged 60+. The meetings offer discussions on contemporary art, and creative activities that develop cognitive processes, improving manual dexterity by learning different art techniques and forms of art. For the meetings, we selected art historians, critics, artists and experts, who will talk about various, very colourful aspects of contemporary culture. Interdisciplinarity of the meetings, original themes, displaying the value of joint participation will help participants discover their own path of interpretation and contemplation of the art world.
