Municipal Gallery bwa invites for the projection of the awarded documentary “Argentinian Lesson” and for a meeting with its director, Wojciech Staroń, hosted by Katarzyna Marcysiak.
The documentary was made during the Starońs two-years stay in Argentina, where the director’s wife taught English at the time. We perceive this faraway country through the experiences of the 8 years old son of the Starońs and his friendship with a hardly older Marcia, an unusually mature girl who has to take care of herself and take over the responsibilities of the parents unable to cope themselves. She’s the guide to this strange, unique world not only for Janek Staroń, but first of all for the audience. “The movie is about different cultures, but it primarily focuses on the beauty of friendship emerging between a little girl and a little boy. The jury considers it a real masterpiece” ; that was the Jury’s reasoning behind the Złoty Róg award for the director, awarded at the 51st Krakow Film Festival. Wojciech Staroń is not only a director (of such movies as Pani Nikifor, El Misionero, Syberyjska lekcja), but also a cinematographer (among others, Plac Zbawiciela, Jeszcze nie wieczór, Niezawodny system, Hel, Nagroda).
