During the opening, there will be a concert of Emilia Ogonowska-Jaroń — oboe (Academy of Music in Bydgoszcz)
in the program: Benjamin Britten’s “Six Metamorphoses after Ovid” for solo oboe
Views, frames, landscapes, scenes that made me stop for a moment and pay attention to the scene happening. I felt the moments captured in the paintings were unique at the moment. They left a trace in my imagination, an idea that I put to the canvas. In the paintings I was trying to portray the mood and atmosphere prevailing in the current moment, from the delight at sunset, to the blurry image of a speeding truck.
My landscape compositions come from the reality, they were absorbed during numerous travels, they are mental landscapes, painted maps saturated with feeling. They are the consequence of looking from the inside, extracting the memories of places and associated emotions. I often return to some themes, such as storm, electricity pylons, or streaks of light left by cars. I perceive a storm as a kind of spectacle of light and colour, when the sky takes on phenomenal shades. Also unusual is the light that accompanies it, it works like a filter giving different tones to the landscape that is observed. Electricity pylons, despite the fact that they are foreign elements, blended into the landscape around us are almost imperceptible, blend in with their surroundings. We treat them as elements of the natural landscape. In my paintings, I tried to capture the elusive and magical moment, when the world changes for a while.
