As a part of the “Art in the city” project organised by the municipal gallery bwa of Bydgoszcz, between 17th and 20th of June, artists from Finland created their works in the city space.
On a small island of Hailuoto, where she lives and creates, Anni Rapinoja made a roof of spruce cones, “A window to the world”. Transferred to Bydgoszcz, it was mounted between the buildings on the Przesmyk street.
“Many people in the city live away from nature, even though we´re a part of it. We can´t leave without it. The nature protects us, so we must protect it. We forget about it and feel bad.
I´d love to transfer a little bit of nature to the city – “A window to the sky” or “Skywindow” is a kind of a roof over a street, made of spruce cones. A part of nature arrives to become a protection or, at least, be protected. The roof stretched over and protected the whole width of the street”. /Anni Rapinoja/
