From 19th January 2005 the BWA Gallery of Bydgoszcz exhibits works of Ewa Gordon, entitled “Double Game”. Ewa Gordon presents her earlier works, as well as recent ones. The title of the exhibition is “Double Game”.
We will see how that double game of Ewa Gordon&aqutes heroines is changing. “In the search for her own means of expression Ewa Gordon decided to choose one modular form – a nude – and has been faithful to it ever since”. Photographed bodies of the models, as a result of using various rasters, focus attention on other aspects of femininity. Ewa Gordon, using the play of lights and white, black and grey, and also using colours, in many serigraphies presents those areas that are hidden within women. Operating with a subtle but decorative language, she records stability in inevitable variability, and, by not finalising the form, she encourages to discover the real in the unreal, and the unreal in the real. Ewa Gordon was born in Bydgoszcz, studied at the Faculty of Fine Arts of Mikołaj Kopernik University in Toruń, got her degree in artistic graphics in 1984, for several years she has been teaching serigraphy at the PLSP (State High-school of Fine Arts) in Bydgoszcz.
