The Bydgoszcz District of the Association of Polish Artists, together with Municipal Gallery bwa in Bydgoszcz, organised the 1st „Leon Wyczółkowski National Painting Competition”.
On February 22nd, at 4pm, the post-competition exhibition was opened at the Municipal Gallery bwa in Bydgoszcz. The Jury composed of: Anna Szewczyk, Bogdan Wojtaciak and Grzegorz Wnęk, out of 86 works qualified for the exhibition, awarded prizes to the following paintings:
– 1st prize – Aleksandra Simińska „Drzewo chrztu wg Piero della Francesca” (Tree of Baptism by Piero della Francesca), oil on canvas, 200×150, 2013
– 2nd prize – Bartosz Czarnecki „Możliwości struktury tłumu 1” (Possibilities of Crowd Structure 1), oil on canvas, 150×150, 2013
– 3rd prize – Magdalena Juszczak „Lisy bez sukienek” (Foxed without Dresses), acrylic, 120×160, 2013
Exhibition is opened until March 3rd, 2014
An important aspect of the exhibition is to review and activate the creative attitudes of the artists, as well as to confront the creative concepts of the painters from various regions of our country. The competition is addressed to all Polish professional artists. We are happy that the first edition of the competition was so successful. The competition was attended by 386 artists from all the major communities in the country, who submitted nearly a thousand works for the assessment. The exhibition and the catalogue present images of 62 artists qualified on the basis of the submitted photographs, by the jury composed of: Anna Szewczyk -Wrocław, Grzegorz Wnęk -Kraków, Bogdan Wojtasiak -Poznań.
We are delighted that the jury described the level of the competition as high, and we are happy to announce the next edition.
The competition will be held every two years (biennial), the initiator and organiser of the competition is the Bydgoszcz District of the Association of Polish Artists in cooperation with the Municipal Gallery bwa in Bydgoszcz.
