Ingeborg Strobl from Austria is the first artist who decided to realise her project.
The “Łuczniczka” (Archer) project was realised on 19-23 April 2006, in cooperation with the elementary school No. 22 in Łęgnowo and with the “Gazeta Wyborcza” newspaper.
The artist, inspired by the “Łuczniczka” sculpture standing in the park in the centre of the city, employed the juniors of one of the peripheral schools “…I´m not interested in showing my works to the citizens of Bydgoszcz, I was more interested in an interaction, in cooperation with people who live here, therefore I employed the juniors; “I specifically wanted a school from the outskirts of the city, because I wanted pupils that are not familiar with that sculpture, that may not have seen Łuczniczka at all”
Thirty children from three classes went together with the artist to the city and watched the “Łuczniczka”. They learnt the sculpture´s history, and on the next day, at school, with the same felt-tip pens and same sheets of paper, they could show her in two ways: as the goddess of hunters, Diana, the queen of night and moon – the heroine of the Greek mythology; or imagine her as she descends onto the Earth and draw her as a contemporary woman.
Next, all the works were published daily in a local newspaper, for the subsequent 30 days.
