An exhibition of works created during the workshop activities of special classes of the School Complex No. 29, Primary School No. 13 and the Revalidation and Education Centre for Children and Young People with Autism in Bydgoszcz.
During the workshop meetings, the students, working under the supervision of their teachers, took part in sensory activities which resulted in cyanotype photograms – compositions depicting various organic forms, showing the complexity of forms in the natural world. Cyanotype, one of the oldest photographic techniques from the 19th century, is at the same time a simple tool in visual didactics, which enables especially the young participants to experience the materiality of the image and the joy of self-creation.
The timing of the workshop and exhibition presentation is not coincidental. April 2nd has been designated World Autism Awareness Day by the UN General Assembly. Therefore, during the month of April, a number of initiatives are taken to promote awareness of autism and to sensitize society to accept diversity and developmental difference. The workshop was prepared and led by Marek Noniewicz.
