In November, the Municipal Gallery bwa in Bydgoszcz will host the exhibition “Karol Śliwka. Polish Projects Polish Designers,” prepared by the Gdynia City Museum. The exhibition presents the work of Karol Śliwka (1932-2019), one of the most eminent Polish graphic designers, whose output includes designs of packaging, book and record covers, stamps and posters. A special place in his career is occupied by graphic signs, created for the Institute of Mother and Child, General Directorate for Roads and Motorways, National Library, Adamed company, or School and Pedagogical Publishing House. Some of them are considered iconic today – there is probably no one in Poland who would not know a characteristic, typographical money box of PKO Bank Polski. The exhibition was awarded in the “Historical Event of the Year 2018” poll, and honoured with the “Project of the Year 2018” award granted by the Association of Applied Graphic Designers.
After the vernissage, we invite you to a curatorial tour of the exhibition.
