(the desire to understand is an act of resistance*) Katarzyna Szeszycka
This is the latest in a series of exhibitions by Szeszycka based on an extended series of paintings and videos under the common title Nocą będę opisywał słońca (At night I will be describing suns). It was taken from a book by Boris Cyrulnik, a promoter of the idea of resilience. The name does not yet have an equivalent in Polish that fully reflects its meaning. Resilience is the resilience, springiness, suppleness, flexibility, and strength needed to survive a crisis, pick yourself up and move on. Cyrulnik’s research looks at creativity as a crucial factor in the resilience process.
With this exhibition, the artist closes the process of confronting and recovering from her loss.
