Balance of Illusions is an exhibition of experimental wearable ceramics made using the nerikomi technique, a Japanese method of creating ceramics that involves forming patterns by combining coloured clays. The origins of the nerikomi technique can be traced to the Edo period (1603-1868), when Japanese ceramic artists began experimenting with different types of clay and pigments to create unique patterns and textures.
In the exhibition space, we can see multicoloured plates, goblets, vases and other utilitarian objects. These are compositions inspired by involuntary, compulsive sketches of forms and shapes, which as a whole may or may not form a narrative. When creating them, the artist balances the abstract and the real, creating afterimages, illusions and delusions. After the choice of colour and texture, this is the most important moment in building the entire composition.
Ceramics for Kuba Mozolewski is a new medium in which he tries to find something fresh. And he finds it satisfying that his creations can serve a utilitarian and decorative function at the same time. He loves to experiment with colour, texture, form and shape in his work.

Kuba Mozolewski – works in photography, drawing and ceramics. He graduated from the Faculty of Media Art at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw.
