We invite you to the post-competition exhibition of the 8th edition of the International Student Drawing Exhibition NAD_RYSOWAĆ. Students and graduates of the last two years of art schools from Poland and abroad took part in the exhibition. The main organizer of the competition is the Department of Drawing of the Faculty of Fine Arts, Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń. The aim of the exhibitions organised by the Department of Drawing of the Nicolaus Copernicus University since 2008 is to show drawing in all its diversity, starting from good classical drawing, through utility drawing, illustrative drawing, through less conventional solutions, taking the form of animation, action, performance, installation, to purely conceptual projects.
What is the title SUPERDRAWING, which has become the theme of this year’s edition?
It’s a reflection on crossing drawing boundaries, more than a drawing. The concept of this edition revolves around the simple advice left behind by Professor Krzysztof Cander, an outstanding teacher and a versatile artist. It was: Draw more! We change this more into SUPER_DRAWING, that is an added value. We are interested in transgressions: In the area of classical drawing, we are looking for an even more precise recreation of reality, or maybe an exit towards SUPER_REALISM? In the area of reportage and daily drawing, we look for manifestations of drawing SUPERactivity, manifested by drawing continuously, in classes and on the margins, in sketchbooks, on paper, but also on all other surfaces. In the area of experimental drawing we expect to go OVER the surface, into the space, beyond the gallery walls…
We believe that SUPER_DRAWING can be a way to cross the boundaries of one’s own skills, but also to look for new drawing areas.
The exhibition is accompanied by a lecture by Aleksandra Sojak-Borodo.
