New trends in polish painting was a project that comprises the latest trends in Polish painting, after 2000 to the present

The concept behind the NEW TENDENCIES IN POLISH PAINTING exhibition is to emphasise the phenomena and tendencies that are most important for the condition of contemporary painting in Poland. The first presentation is mainly an attempt to determine its status at the beginning of 21st century, in the European and global context.

The exhibition will be presented from November 25th, 2006, to February 28th, 2007 in the Municipal gallery bwa in Bydgoszcz. It will be the first stage of the NEW TENDENCIES IN POLISH PAINTING project, which is cyclic and is going to be organised every 5 years.

During the exhibition, there will be a panel discussion organised, with the participation of invited critics, artists and journalists. The exhibition will be also accompanied by a thorough catalogue, containing the documentation of the exhibition and the recording of the discussion.

As a part of the project, which started in autumn 2005, the Gallery appointed the Chapter, consisting of critics, art historians and curators of exhibitions.
The project assumed building the exhibitions in two ways:
1. Members of the Chapter propose artists
2. Individual applications (accepted until June 30th, 2006, for all artists, who, agreeing to the terms of the competition, were able to propose 5 works from the last six years).

The Chapter are:

Przemysław Jędrowski -historian and art critic, curator of exhibitions
Władysław Kaźmierczak -curator of exhibitions
Ewa Rybska -curator of exhibitions
Beata Kaźmierczak -curator of the Municipal gallery bwa in Bydgoszcz
Wacław Kuczma -director of the Municipal gallery bwa in Bydgoszcz

The Chapter verified the artists proposed by its members and verified the works submitted by the artist individually.
The artists were chosen through discussions and justification of the importance of their achievements for the New Tendencies in Polish Painting.
The Chapter classified the pictures for the exhibition.
