“Postcard from Poland” is Sylwia Szyrszeń’s first exhibition showing several dozen selected posters by the artist. Sylwia Szyrszeń candidly portrays the holiday reality of the Polish urban landscape and what we so longingly look for when we are out of town on holiday. Despite the uncompromising and often bitter look at many situations, we can swallow this pill with a smile, thanks to the very friendly aesthetic. Looking at the artist’s works we know that Sylwia Szyrszeń smiles at us and with us. There is no judging or criticism.
Sylwia Szyrszeń (born in 1986 in Nowy Targ) – graphic artist and illustrator, a graduate of the Faculty of Art at the Pedagogical University in Krakow. She does illustrations for children and also designs book covers. She creates theatre and opera posters as well.
We could not hold the vernissage at 3 Gdańska St., due to the size of the Gallery and the restrictions which are still in force, but on the first day of the exhibition – from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. – you could meet individually with Sylwia Szyrszeń and talk about her exhibition, works and art.
