Bali – one of the most famous islands of Indonesia, is a treasure trove of globally unique art. A local version of hinduism is professed there, which has gained a new interpretation on Bali, merging with even older local animistic beliefs. To this day, religious practices permeate daily life of the Balinese. All this has its representation in the local art.
The Municipal Gallery bwa in Bydgoszcz will present nearly 200 works from the private collection of the Polish collector Krzysztof Musiał. This collection shows the diversity of Balinese art. It is a record of its past and present, showing that the art of Balinese not only lasts, but also evolves into the future. The exhibition features both paintings, fabric and sculpture from the nineteenth, twentieth and twenty-first century. The exhibition will be accompanied by an over 300-pages-long catalogue.
