From January 8th, the BRDA Gallery located in the BRDA Hotel and acting under the auspices of the Municipal Gallery bwa in Bydgoszcz, will present an exhibition of paintings by Tadeusz Dołkowski (Bydgoszcz).
I studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Gdańsk, starting with painting and then going to intermedia. I’ve long searched for means that will fit my perception of the world. While studying, I did painting installations, performance, video, typically staying away from images. Only after graduating did I come back to painting, the only goal of which is to leave behind an image. I stopped looking for additional functions, reasons and justifications. What’s left is the attempt to visualise, to „take my eyes our” for the show. I gave up on sociology, politics, psychophysiology of seeing, because I was afraid no one is interested in that; instead, I decided to show the things that make me happy and give me fulfilment, and thanks to that I don’t need any other motivation and I don’t feel fear.(Tadeusz Dołkowski)
