Opening of the exhibition 08.06.2013, 12.00pm
On Saturday, June 8th, in the Municipal Gallery bwa we summed up the 7th Competition for Poster, as a part of the National Youth Biennial „Youth Poster”. The event is organised by the Palace Centre of Imagination at the Bydgoszcz Youth Palace. The Biennial of 2011 focused the attention of its authors on the subject of „Aggression in Social and Public Life”, resulting in over 200 works sent by young artists from secondary schools, as well as youth clubs and youth palaces across Poland. The leading theme of this year’s Biennial is „Nature — Potential or Victim? Projecting the Future.” The task of the organiser is to constantly promote poster art at the level of young artists, who under the supervision of teachers — give expression to possibilities of symbolic communication with each other in the overwhelming visual culture, the culture of picture language that conquests the world. Additionally, we promote exceptionally talented young authors, obtaining works of high artistic, educational, social value. There is also a process of popularising among children and adolescents reflective and intellectual forms of artistic expression in the form of a poster that, as a graphic shortcut promotes content that is important for the new century and millennium. It is satisfactory, while developing these graphic works, to learn that young people have great skills of using computer and printing technologies.
Also shown is inquisitiveness in designing and transposing the associations with the initial material. The participants, in addition to the nominal prizes in two age categories (11-15 and 16-20 years old), fight for the main prize, or „Grand Prix”. The award ceremony and the opening of the exhibition will take place in the Municipal Gallery bwa (Bydgoszcz, 20 Gdańska St.), at 12pm. Co-organizers of the event are: Municipal Gallery bwa in Bydgoszcz, Bydgoszcz Art Association, the Parents’ Council at the Youth Palace in Bydgoszcz. The whole event is under the patronage of the Kujawsko-Pomorskie Board of Education. (ed. Z. Jastrowski)
