We invite you to an exhibition of photographs by Zofia Kiepuszewska from the collection of the Municipal Gallery bwa in Bydgoszcz and the home archive of Joanna and Marek Kiepuszewscy
The exhibition’s title arose from conversations about what Zofia Kiepuszewska’s photographic sessions were like in the very early 1970s. (…) Portraits of Joanna Kiepuszewska taken by her mother-in-law Zofia Kiepuszewska in the space-time of one house grow out of the value of this family relationship. In the women’s intimate and reflective encounter with each other and with the camera, the images blossom from the inside out. What emerges is an internal image of the photographer and her ways of seeing/viewing. Therefore, these are not just portraits of Joanna, but portraits featuring Joanna, the other woman, in whom the first woman is reflected, just as the women in the circle are reflected in their stories and femininities, celebrating themselves in respect, kindness and without judgement. (…)
